Midmar Mile Tour 2018
The swimmers of De La Salle Holy Cross College went on their annual swimming tour to Midmar Dam from 9-11 February 2018.Their tour began with a gala at St. Henry’s Marist College in Durban where they swam against other schools from Johannesburg also doing the Midmar Mile, and some schools from Durban. For two years the school has been supporting the National Sea Rescue Institute, Station 5, in Durban. On Saturday 10 February 2018, the school went there to present a letter of the amount of funds raised so far for the Station, R11879.70.
The swimmers were shown a video on what the NSRI does. They also had fun learning how to tie different knots as well as throwing ropes.
After a morning out with this great team of rescue volunteers, our captains, Alex Hamilton and Tannur Anders, handed over the letter to Clifford Ireland.
The swimmers attended Mass at the Parish of the Blessed Sacrament that afternoon.Sunday started off with a 04:30 wake up so that we could leave for the Midmar Dam at 05:00. We arrived safely at the dam in time for the first event.
