Junior School Annual Events

The Junior School hosts a number of annual fundraising and inter-house events.

Inter-house Events

Our inter-house sporting events are staged throughout the year and include cross country, quiz, times-tables, public speaking, swimming galas, netball, cricket, soccer and athletics days where children compete against each other within their respective sport houses - St Charles, St Francis and St Benildus.

The Highland Gathering

The de la Salle Pipe Band has been playing and competing for more than 40 years. The annual Highland Gathering is a community event hosted by our pipe band, at which pipe bands, Irish and Highland dance troupes from across the country gather and compete. Together with many stalls, the mass band finale has become an annual attraction.

Soapbox Derby

The Soapbox Derby is a recent addition to our fundraising event calendar, where Grades 1-7 compete in soapbox carts, enjoy food stalls and activities organised by the parents to raise funds for the schools on-going projects.

ANGELS Projects

The ANGELS Projects are initiatives conceptualised and undertaken by the Grade 7 children. All projects are established with one aim in mind: to support and raise awareness of identified charity projects and initiatives.

Christmas Gift Boxes

Christmas Gift Boxes is an on-going project where the children create gift boxes and supply products needed by the less fortunate. These are distributed by the children to various charities in our local community at the end of the year.

Bug Run

Bug Run is a fun event staged at the school for Grade R – 2. The children create their own bug costumes and take part in a mini fun run.

Musical Stage Productions

Musical stage productions are performed by children from Grade 1-7. A group of very talented parents choreograph, script, build and design sets and costumes, and showcase our talented children to parents and families every year.

Tours

Tours are arranged annually for our Grades 5, 6 and 7 learners. These offer the children the chance to enjoy the environment, team building and have some ‘messy’ fun with their classmates!
